PeopleSoft EPM Current State Assessment and Recommendations
Finance transformation and corporate systems modernization are complex, and one of the challenges was to modernize and transform heavily customerized PeopleSoft EPM that had been deeply integrated into long-running critical business processes, which any interruption would result in high impact.
The Problem
Akin to upgrading a manually operated steam-powered running train
The ask was to fix the functional and performance issues of the ‘running train’ while replacing the old engine with an automated electronic engine. Worse still was that source code and the up-to-date documentation of the vendor module and customization functions were all missing.
OUR 5-STEP APPROACH:
- Review existing architecture and system support documentation
- Meet with technology and business owners to complete the questionnaires
- Update documentation and start end-to-end data lineage exercise; trace source system feeds
- Investigate data processing and reporting patterns; include product and cost center mappings.
- Create final set of documents and facts for review and planning.
The Approach
Technology
Their deep domain knowledge and core technical skills were game changers.
